To coordinate and work cross-functionally with the product marketing team you need to establish trust and respect from several micro-moments. Be sure to establish ongoing communication with the relevant stakeholders.
- Define common goals. How can your joint efforts support your common goals? Ultimately these goals should ladder up to serving your customers and as a result, revenue.
- Clear communication. It’s important to have an ongoing dialogue with product marketing. You won’t be able to forge a relationship with one-off conversations. Be transparent, listen and identify how your projects can help them.
- Collaboration. Depending on your org, this may be an opportunity to collaborate on defining the KPIs. Perhaps you are working at a startup where you need to define activation, retention or churn KPIs. Or you may need to create or revamp an onboarding flow. These are perfect opportunities to work cross-functionally.
